Why-PDD?

Proportional Differential Drive

Why PDD? What is PDD? What will PDD do for me?

Why PDD?

Simply put the PDD allows you to have 60 lb thrust, wireless throttle and steering control for under $400.00.

What will PDD do for me?

By using two 30 lb motors you will be able to troll in faster water, or strong head winds and
fish without continually fighting the speed and steering of your boat.

The PDD wireless controller and PWM electric trolling motor power module, was designed for the serious fisherman who use 8 ft to 14 ft boats driven by a 30 lb motor etc.

The system is usually underpowered and control of the boat is frustrating at best. --> Enter the PDD system. You can purchase a 30lb motor for $99.00, and get two motors for $198.00 = (60 lb thrust), and WTP-12D-PDD system for $169.95, that comes to under $400.00. That gives you 60 lb thrust and a twin motor drive with complete throttle and steering control.

What is PDD? (Proportional Differential Drive)

The Wireless Trolling Pro PDD is a wireless controlled dual motor power module in a single box.

Each motor is controlled separately or both motors are controlled synchronously (locked), by the hand held controller.

The main throttle controls the locked motor speed. The rotating Pot controls the power to each motor separately to provide the exact steering control you need when trolling.

The Pot adds or subtracts power to each motor when making a Left/Right movement. Turn the Pot to the Right and power is reduced in the Right motor. The Left motor will push the boat around to the Right. Continue to turn the Pot to the Right, and the controller will automatically Reverse the Right motor and provide a faster/sharper turn.

The Pot controls the throttle of the Right motor in the Reverse mode at settings of 0-250 increments.

The Left turn operates the same way only you turn to the Left.

There, now you have it, PDD means we divide Proportionally, the power to each motor, and Differentially control, the Speed and Direction, to Drive your boat at the exact trolling conditions you need.

P.S. With a WTP-PDD if you loose one motor you still have a spare. Try that with a wireless $600.00 plus single 45-55 lb motor system.

Burn out your single 45-55 lb motor and you replace it with another $600.00 plus motor.
With a WTP module; Burn out one of your 30 lb motors and you continue to fish, then on your way home you can stop by and pick up a replacement for just $99.00.

You do the math, easy motor replacement or easy repair of your power module you make the choice.

Fish or spend $100.00's of extra dollars?

If the WTP-PDD goes down, just disconnect the power cables from the power module and replace the Battery Connector, hook the motor backup to the battery. You now have manual control of your motor (or motors),  and you keep fishing until you can repair the WTP-PDD module.

Now you have it.

PDD stands for Proportional Differential Drive

Wireless Trolling Motor has a new product design using Pulse Width Modulators, to drive a dual/twin transom mounted electric Trolling Motors. You can also get a PDD unit with left/right steering control.

How the Wireless Trolling Pro PDD modules work.

The PWM module is controlled by a hand held wireless controller, which sends the signals to the PWM trolling motor module that controls the dual/twin electric Trolling Motors.

The handheld controller has the all the features needed to operate the Trolling Motors.

On/Off, momentary switch (Push On- Push Off) Idle/Run momentary switch, (Push Idle-Run, Push Run-Idle) Up-speed Press and hold, auto ups the speed in increments of 5 in the 5X mode or increments of 1 in the 1X mode, from 0-250.

To single step in increments press and release (Up/Spd) or (Dn/Spd) switch quickly. 1X/5X momentary switch, comes on in the 5X mode, to change to 1X press and release the switch quickly.

Max-Speed (Only operates in the Run Mode) momentary switch press and hold, increase the motors to full speed, release the switch and the speed returns to the setting from which it left.

Down-speed, works same as the Up-speed switch only decrease the value in 5X or 1X increments.

Aux1 (Fwd/Rev) momentary switch Forward motor run to Reverse motor run change.
Press and release switch quickly and the speed switch functions the same as in the Forward mode.

Press and release and the unit return to the Forward mode. These functions are displayed on the controller LCD screen. When you change from Forward to Reverse, the speed is set to 1, the same applies when you change from Reverse to Forward.

The unit will auto switch from 5X to 1X when the speed reaches about 240 and will switch from 5X to 1X when you decrease the speed down to 10. This is to prevent any sudden jumps in speed as you reach the max or min speed conditions.

How the PDD works with Wireless Trolling Pro modules.

The PDD is what provides the speed adjustments with 0-250 settings.
and the steering adjustments for Left/Right turns with auto reverse function also with 0-250 settings,.

The best way to explain how it works is by example.

Lets say you are heading out to fish and you are in the Run mode and the speed is set to 150 in the Fwd mode, the LCD display will show on line 1 Fwd = 5X, and line 2 will show 150   0, both motors (Left-Right) are driven at the same speed of 150.

To make a right turn the steering knob, should be centered and the LCD should display 150  0 on
line 2. Turn the knob to the right and the LCD display line 2 as 150 and 0 250 will be displayed when you turn the knob. When the knob displays 150, the right motor prop will stop, and the left motor will will still drive the boat into a right turn at the 150 setting.

To make a harder right turn, continue to turn the knob to the right, until the LCD displays 250, then when you continue to turn the knob, the number will change to 0 and the right motor will auto change to Reverse.

Continue to turn the knob to 250 and the right motor is in full Reverse. The left motor is pushing the boat to the right and the right motor is pulling the boat to the right.

To increase the turn speed more, you can also press and momentarily hold the Max/Spd switch and the left motor will increase to 100% power on that motor.

Release the Max/Spd switch turn the knob back to 0 the (center position) and the dual/twin motors will return to the normal settings.

And there you have it. An explanation of how PDD works with Wireless Trolling Pro power modules for trolling motors.

Who is Wireless Trolling Pro?

Wireless Trolling Pro (WTP) is a small company that designs and sells cable and wireless (RF) controllers and drivers for trolling motors. Our units are unique, not only because they are loaded with some of today's newest technologies, but they allow the fishermen to precisely control their trolling speed with 'power efficiency' built into the model.

Our trolling motor controllers and drivers sport multifunction operation at 250 steps per function, Pulse Width Modulators (PWM) allows for precision control. We also have Proportional Differential Drive (PDD) for even more power efficiency along with the PWM precision control built into it.

Dual motors or single motors we have products for controlling both.

WTP products are designed for electric 'transom mount' 'or motor mount' trolling motors. Some models, have cable control, some wireless control. All WTP cable/wireless (RF) controllers have On/Off, Idle/Run, Up/Speed (1x-5x Steps from 0-250), 1x/5x Speed switch, MFT switch (Maximun full throttle), Down/Speed (1x-5x Steps from 0-250), Fwd/Rev, and some models also come with a special function control using a Pot. This will enable fishermen or boat operators to troll with cable or wireless controlled power modules.

WTP controllers and drivers are designed and built in the USA.
