PDD stands for Proportional Differential Drive

Wireless Trolling Motor has a new product design using Pulse Width Modulators, to drive a dual/twin transom mounted electric Trolling Motors. You can also get a PDD unit with left/right steering control.

How the Wireless Trolling Pro PDD modules work.

The PWM module is controlled by a hand held wireless controller, which sends the signals to the PWM trolling motor module that controls the dual/twin electric Trolling Motors.

The handheld controller has the all the features needed to operate the Trolling Motors.

On/Off, momentary switch (Push On- Push Off) Idle/Run momentary switch, (Push Idle-Run, Push Run-Idle) Up-speed Press and hold, auto ups the speed in increments of 5 in the 5X mode or increments of 1 in the 1X mode, from 0-250.

To single step in increments press and release (Up/Spd) or (Dn/Spd) switch quickly. 1X/5X momentary switch, comes on in the 5X mode, to change to 1X press and release the switch quickly.

Max-Speed (Only operates in the Run Mode) momentary switch press and hold, increase the motors to full speed, release the switch and the speed returns to the setting from which it left.

Down-speed, works same as the Up-speed switch only decrease the value in 5X or 1X increments.

Aux1 (Fwd/Rev) momentary switch Forward motor run to Reverse motor run change.
Press and release switch quickly and the speed switch functions the same as in the Forward mode.

Press and release and the unit return to the Forward mode. These functions are displayed on the controller LCD screen. When you change from Forward to Reverse, the speed is set to 1, the same applies when you change from Reverse to Forward.

The unit will auto switch from 5X to 1X when the speed reaches about 240 and will switch from 5X to 1X when you decrease the speed down to 10. This is to prevent any sudden jumps in speed as you reach the max or min speed conditions.

How the PDD works with Wireless Trolling Pro modules.

The PDD is what provides the speed adjustments with 0-250 settings.
and the steering adjustments for Left/Right turns with auto reverse function also with 0-250 settings,.

The best way to explain how it works is by example.

Lets say you are heading out to fish and you are in the Run mode and the speed is set to 150 in the Fwd mode, the LCD display will show on line 1 Fwd = 5X, and line 2 will show 150   0, both motors (Left-Right) are driven at the same speed of 150.

To make a right turn the steering knob, should be centered and the LCD should display 150  0 on
line 2. Turn the knob to the right and the LCD display line 2 as 150 and 0 250 will be displayed when you turn the knob. When the knob displays 150, the right motor prop will stop, and the left motor will will still drive the boat into a right turn at the 150 setting.

To make a harder right turn, continue to turn the knob to the right, until the LCD displays 250, then when you continue to turn the knob, the number will change to 0 and the right motor will auto change to Reverse.

Continue to turn the knob to 250 and the right motor is in full Reverse. The left motor is pushing the boat to the right and the right motor is pulling the boat to the right.

To increase the turn speed more, you can also press and momentarily hold the Max/Spd switch and the left motor will increase to 100% power on that motor.

Release the Max/Spd switch turn the knob back to 0 the (center position) and the dual/twin motors will return to the normal settings.

And there you have it. An explanation of how PDD works with Wireless Trolling Pro power modules for trolling motors.
